== Team history ==
Beginning play in 1920, the Nashville White Sox were a charter member of the newly formed Negro Southern League. The 10-team circuit included other teams from Tennessee, as well as representatives teams from Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The team was managed by Marshall Garrett in its first season. The White Sox defeated the Montgomery Grey Sox in four straight games of a play-off series (2–1, 3–2, 2–1, and 3–1) to win the Negro Southern League title in 1920.〔
